Jacek Klimkiewicz - Violin


As a student of Irena Dubiska in his native Warsaw violinist Jacek Klimkiewicz became concertmaster of the Polish Chamber Orchestra. With 18 he debuted as a soloist in the Warsaw National Philharmonic Hall with the Paganini Concerto. Following studies with W. Marschner in Freiburg and masterclasses with I. Feher and H. Szeryng. He joined many worldclass orchestra playing under such conductors as K. Böhm, S. Celibidache, B. Haiting, L. Maazel, E.Inbal, N. Marriner, D. Shallon, S. Skrowaczewski..As the first violinist of the Sonare Quartet his recording have earned the German Critics Prize, The Prix Repertoire Paris and recording of the year from Miami’s „Favorite of Voice“. Besides his professorship since 1992 at the Folkwang University of Arts Essen, Klimkiewicz is a regular guest of summer festival in Bergamo, Biel, Akiyoshidai (Japan) as well as Prague Spring. He has played in Europe’s premier houses including the Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg and Munich Philharmonic Halls, in Frankfurt’s Old Opera, St. John’s Church in London and Suntory and City Opera Hall of Tokyo. He gives masterclasses in Asia, Southamerica and throughout Europe.
